Gym because of the association with physical power /athletic abilities and considered not academically inclined or capable and behaviour due to belief they are a threat and need to controlled or disciplined. These ideas stem from the plantation ideology handed down. The education system is where change starts from, it is where structures are created and sustained. Let us do better collectively.

Agreed. There’s a deep seated stigma associated with male teachers, especially at the elementary level: https://compass.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/soc4.13145

Of course they can. For example, I teach academic research and writing to first year undergraduates up to the doctorate level. And there are many more black male teachers doing more than gym and discipline.

Our history has many inventors. Garret Morgan (traffic light), Charles Drew(blood bank), and Eli Whitney (cotton gin), all sound like science to me. Like any other ethnicity, we all have science, math and history in our genes.

We must all receive the special gifts GOD has given us. Far too often we seek the gifts of others that are not meant for us. GOD has given specific gifts and abilities to each of us. Learn to receive and refine your gifts for the betterment of mankind. 🤑 😇 😁

“When it comes to colleges and universities, AAPI adults welcome a free exchange of ideas. In states including Florida and Texas, higher education institutions have been the targets of curriculum restrictions just as K-12 schools have. AAPI adults were more likely than members of the general public — 69 percent vs. 62 percent — to agree that colleges should foster “the free exchange and debate of ideas and values.” Fifty-one percent of AAPI adults agree that advancing equity and inclusion is a major purpose of college, while 46 percent of the general public said the same.”#aapi #tolerance #racialequity #research #highereducation #curriculum #restrictions https://lnkd.in/g-Jx-KMC

Today, we bade a semi-emotional farewell to one of my scholars who is heading to his future school to take his scholarship exams. He’ll be back with us soon, but our jobs are done.Every year, the 13+ scholarship candidates seem to get ever more passionate about the challenge they have set themselves. Each of them is going to a world-renowned senior school and the challenge for each of them is great. We as teachers can show them the papers, give them hints and tips for timing, model appropriate answers…but really, it’s my belief that we are simply there to introduce them to the breadth of our specialisms. In two weeks time, all of the current scholars will have been assessed at their new schools and we’ll begin working with the new crop of scholars. First port of call for the English department? Beowulf in the original Anglo Saxon. Will they be tested on the alien language? Doubtful. Will they think more about the words they take for granted?I should say so!#Education #Scholarship #TeacherLife #StudentSuccess #FutureLeaders #SchoolLife #EducationalJourney #InspiringStudents #LearningCommunity #TeachingMoments #AcademicExcellence #Beowulf #AngloSaxon #LiteratureLovers

How can we, as educators, approach society's most controversial subjects? In the news this week, we've seen a legal dispute over religious activity in school - with the dubbed 'strictest headteacher in Britain' prohibiting student group prayer at break time. The Day turns divided topics into valuable lessons. We create neutral learning resources that teachers can use in lessons, form-time and assemblies, answering the burning questions students have on the issues they are facing. Each of our articles, published in five age-appropriate reading levels, focus around a central debate question that turns the classroom into a hub for sensitive discussion.Don't cower away from difficult news - The Day has the resources to support you, every step of the way...#newsforkids #learningresources #debate #education #headteachers #SLT #ukteachers #RE #PSHE #britishcitizenship

Do you support INJUSTICE??I doubt very seriously that anyone will openly admit to supporting injustices of any kind. That being said, why is it then that so many don't stand up for justice? Justice is defined as "the ethical, philosophical idea that people are to be treated impartially, fairly, properly, and reasonably by the law and by arbiters of the law, that laws are to ensure that no harm befalls another, and that, where harm is alleged, a remedial action is taken - both the accuser and the accused receive a morally right consequence merited by their actions." When you agree with doing away with DEI you are supporting INJUSTICE. You are condoning prejudice, you are condoning discrimination. When you don't advocate for DEI you have chosen to ignore INJUSTICE. DEI goes far beyond race! It includes gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, persons with disabilities (or as we say UNIQUE-ABILITIES). Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are essential in housing, in education, in the workplace, in healthcare, in LIFE!! Know and understand the importance. Break the silence, take a stand!#DEI

Christian instruction in US public schools is governed by the case Zorach v. Clauson, allowing 'released time religious instruction.' It must be off school property, privately funded, and with parental consent. Legal considerations vary by jurisdiction, so consult local authorities for specific questions.https://buff.ly/4dpbS8e#nwef #education #parents #schooling #teachers #christianeducation #religion

Woke education has gotten out of control, and Scott Yenor of the The Claremont Institute comes on the show to share about 21 #edpolicy bills passed in #California that detail exactly what the radical left is doing with education. Scott goes into detail about the real meaning hidden behind the new buzzwords - critical social justice, action civics, comprehensive sex education. The Left is coming for the next generation, and we need to know what they are up to. https://lnkd.in/eRkRGgZU
