Emmerdale's new Belle decision, Coronation Street killer revealed, Home and Away death (2024)

Soap spoilers follow.

It's been another busy week for Emmerdale spoilers, with the next developments in Tom and Belle's storyline revealed and a new casting confirmed for another major plot.

Elsewhere in Soapland, Coronation Street is gearing up for one of its biggest weeks of the year as the culprit behind Lauren Bolton's disappearance is finally unmasked.

Have you missed any news, spoilers or gossip? Fear not, as we're rounding up the biggest headlines from the past week.

Emmerdale's Tom fears the worst over Belle

When Emmerdale finished up for the week on Friday (May 24), evil Tom King was starting to worry that he could finally be caught out for his disturbing treatment of his wife Belle.

The couple's ongoing domestic abuse story escalated further this week, as Tom meddled with Belle's mental health medication to make her question her recollections of recent events. This also created an opportunity to manipulate Belle's family.

New spoilers released at the start of this week have already confirmed some details of what happens next. Early next week, Tom continues to panic as he worries that Belle could expose his true colours while being supported by experts at the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Centre.

When Belle invites Lydia to come and visit her rather than Tom, the villain worries that this doesn't bode well either.

As always, Tom has a plan to regain control of the situation – will he find a way to maintain his deception?

Emmerdale's new character for Samson plot

Samson Dingle is the unlikely character who keeps making headlines for Emmerdale at the moment. First came the rumours that he could be leaving the Dales, then next up was Sam Hall's public denial over rumours that his character is being killed off.

Now it's been revealed that Samson will be making a troublesome new friend in upcoming episodes, opening up a new chapter of drama for the teen character.

Former Waterloo Road actor Osian Morgan has been cast in the role of Samson's new pal, who has been tipped to cause major problems for the young Dingle. Osian's character is also expected to find himself in the bad books of Sam and Lydia.

There's not too long to wait for further gossip – more will be revealed about the new character in the coming days.

Coronation Street's big week

Coronation Street officially confirmed the plans for next week's special episodes a few days ago, with a not-too-surprising announcement of which storyline will be taking centre stage.

The annual 'Britain's Got Talent week', which sees Corrie air nightly alongside the talent contest's live shows, will focus on the ongoing mystery of what happened to missing teenager Lauren Bolton.

Thursday's episode (May 30) is the must-see edition which confirms exactly who is responsible for Lauren's fate, which looks set to end months of speculation about her secret boyfriend.

For those more interested in the long-standing residents, there's plenty of drama for the likes of Roy and Carla in the episodes too.

Home and Away's mystery death

Home and Away airs some huge episodes on Australian screens next week, as a mysterious stranger arrives in the Bay and leaves some much-loved characters in jeopardy.

The story sees the Bay's residents flee for their lives when they realise that a gunman is on the loose, which culminates in a shock shooting.

A trailer released by the show posed the question of "Who won't make it?", and just to avoid any doubt, actor Matt Evans – who plays Theo Poulos – later confirmed a death.

Matt told Australia's The Morning Show: "All I can say is next week a stranger will come into the Bay and someone will die."

Sky Mangel returns to Neighbours

Neighbours announced the return of another familiar face this week, confirming that Stephanie McIntosh will be reappearing as Sky Mangel in the coming weeks.

Sky's return comes hot on the heels of her beloved grandfather Harold Bishop moving back to Erinsborough next week.

A statement released by the show teased: "Sky will be dropping by to visit her dear old grandad. But what else has brought her back to Erinsborough? Stephanie McIntosh will be reprising her much loved role in the coming weeks."

Meanwhile, Digital Spy enjoyed an in-depth chat with Ian Smith – who plays Harold – about his soap comeback and you can read that right here.

Nish's big EastEnders news revealed

The official spoilers were released this week for Nish Panesar's return to EastEnders, which airs in the Bank Holiday Monday episode (May 27).

Nish heads back to Walford and is met with a major backlash for showing his face again, but everything changes when he announces that he's dying.

While some members of the Panesar family stand firm in insisting that Nish isn't welcome, Nugget and Avani lead the way with arguing that he deserves a second chance.

Asked whether there's ambiguity over Nish's true intentions, Navin Chowdhry – who plays him – told us: "There is. You could argue that he wants to make up for all he's lost and the pain he's inflicted on others.

"It's the chance for him to seek the ultimate redemption from those he loves most and who he has hurt the most. But he's also someone with nothing to lose…"

Martha and Jez drama for Hollyoaks

Emmerdale's new Belle decision, Coronation Street killer revealed, Home and Away death (7)

Digital Spy published Sherrie Hewson's exclusive first interview about her new Hollyoaks role this week.

Sherrie hinted at a dark storyline for the Blake family, which begins next week when her character Martha pays a visit to the village and takes an interest in Sienna Blake.

Jeremy Sheffield is returning to the Channel 4 soap as Patrick Blake's identical twin brother Jez. Martha is Jez's mother and it seems that the two will have an interesting dynamic.

Explaining that Martha will try to keep Jez and Sienna apart, Sherrie told us: "Martha is frightened of what Jeremy can do, because she knows all about that, but she also loves him desperately.

"Jeremy loves Martha desperately too, but as in all of those relationships, there's a hate/love aspect. His attitude is: 'I love you, but you're going to do what I say!' It's a very intriguing relationship between Martha and Jeremy. And once she finds Sienna, it's going to be explosive."

Could Jez have a dark side to rival Patrick's?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
